Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 4, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how this website collects, uses, stores, shares, and protects information when you visit the site, create an account, post content, submit reviews, send messages, use donations or other features, or otherwise interact with the site.

This site is an independent, community-run forum operated on a hobby/community basis. It is not a law firm, immigration adviser, government agency, legal marketplace, or professional services provider.

By using the site, registering an account, posting content, submitting a review, or continuing to browse the site, you agree to this Privacy Policy.

1. Information We Collect

We may collect the following types of information:

  1. Account information: username, email address, password hash, account settings, profile fields, avatar, signature, preferences, language, style selection, and other information you choose to add to your account.
  2. Content you submit: forum posts, threads, replies, reviews, ratings, comments, resources, profile posts, private messages, reports, attachments, images, links, and other content you submit to the site.
  3. Technical information: IP address, browser type, device information, operating system, referring pages, pages visited, timestamps, session information, cookie identifiers, login records, security logs, and similar technical data.
  4. Moderation and safety information: reports, warnings, bans, account restrictions, spam checks, abuse-prevention records, duplicate-account indicators, suspicious activity records, and staff notes.
  5. Review-related information: information connected to lawyer reviews, law firm reviews, ratings, review disputes, verification requests, reviewer history, reviewed-party responses, and supporting materials submitted to verify or challenge a review.
  6. Communication information: messages you send through contact forms, emails, private messages, reports, appeals, verification requests, or other communication tools.
  7. Donation or payment-related information: if donations or payments are enabled, we may receive basic transaction details such as username, email address, display name, donation amount, transaction status, and processor reference. Full payment card details are handled by the payment processor and are not intended to be stored by the site.

2. Information You Make Public

Forum posts, reviews, ratings, comments, usernames, avatars, signatures, profile information, and other submitted content may be publicly visible depending on where and how you submit them.

Public content may be indexed by search engines, archived by third parties, quoted by other users, copied by visitors, or remain visible even after you stop using the site. You are responsible for the information you choose to make public.

3. Sensitive Information

You should be careful when posting or submitting sensitive information. This includes passport details, identity documents, immigration files, legal documents, client files, case numbers, government reference numbers, financial information, addresses, phone numbers, private correspondence, and privileged or confidential material.

We may remove, redact, hide, or edit sensitive information at our discretion, but we are not required to monitor all content before it appears.

4. Lawyer Reviews, Law Firm Reviews, and Verification

Lawyer reviews, law firm reviews, ratings, and related comments may affect reputations, businesses, and public trust. For that reason, review-related information may be reviewed more carefully than ordinary forum content.

We reserve the right to verify the legitimacy of lawyer reviews, law firm reviews, ratings, comments, replies, and review-related posts in all cases.

For review verification, moderation, dispute handling, abuse prevention, and site integrity, we may collect, review, store, compare, or request information such as:

  1. account history, posting history, timestamps, IP addresses, device or browser signals, login activity, and duplicate-account indicators;
  2. review text, ratings, edits, reports, comments, replies, and related forum posts;
  3. communications between the reviewer and site staff;
  4. communications from the reviewed lawyer, law firm, representative, or affected party;
  5. supporting materials such as invoices, receipts, engagement letters, consultation records, screenshots, emails, messages, case references, correspondence, or other evidence submitted to support or challenge a review;
  6. publicly available information relevant to the review, the reviewed party, or the dispute.

Supporting materials submitted for verification are usually reviewed privately and are not automatically published. We may use those materials to decide whether a review appears legitimate, whether a rating should count, whether content should remain online, and whether account restrictions or moderation action are appropriate.

If a review is disputed, we may share limited information with the reviewer, the reviewed lawyer or law firm, a representative, or another relevant party when we believe it is reasonably necessary to evaluate the dispute, verify legitimacy, prevent abuse, respond to a complaint, or protect the site. We may redact or summarize information where appropriate.

We are not required to disclose our full verification methods, publish verification evidence, provide copies of internal moderation records, or explain every moderation decision.

If a reviewer does not respond to a verification request, provides insufficient support, appears to be using fake or duplicate accounts, appears to have a conflict of interest, or otherwise fails review checks, we may remove, hide, limit, downgrade, merge, edit, or leave unpublished the review, rating, comment, or related content.

We have the final say over what reviews, ratings, comments, replies, listings, and review-related content stay on the site. Our decision is final, even if a reviewer, lawyer, law firm, business, user, or third party disagrees.

If you submit verification materials, you are responsible for removing or redacting sensitive, privileged, confidential, or legally protected information before sending it, unless you accept responsibility for sharing it.

5. How We Use Information

We may use information for the following purposes:

  1. to create, manage, and secure user accounts;
  2. to operate the forum, reviews, ratings, resources, private messages, alerts, search, profiles, and other site features;
  3. to display public content submitted by users;
  4. to send account notices, alerts, password resets, verification emails, administrative messages, and optional email notifications;
  5. to moderate content, investigate reports, prevent spam, detect abuse, and enforce the Terms and Rules;
  6. to verify the legitimacy of lawyer reviews, law firm reviews, ratings, and review-related content;
  7. to handle review disputes, removal requests, complaints, and appeals;
  8. to maintain site security, prevent fraud, detect duplicate accounts, and protect users;
  9. to analyze site usage, diagnose technical issues, and improve performance;
  10. to process donations, payments, or related records where those features are used;
  11. to comply with legal obligations, respond to lawful requests, and protect the site’s rights, users, and community.

6. Cookies and Similar Technologies

The site uses cookies, local storage, session identifiers, and similar technologies for login, security, preferences, consent, moderation, review integrity, analytics, embedded content, payments, and ordinary site operation.

Detailed cookie information is covered separately in the Cookie Policy. That separate Cookie Policy controls the site’s cookie-specific disclosures.

7. Third-Party Services

The site may use third-party services for hosting, security, spam prevention, email delivery, analytics, backups, payment processing, advertising, embedded content, performance, content delivery, and other technical or operational purposes.

These services may process information such as IP addresses, browser data, cookie identifiers, account information, email addresses, transaction references, usage logs, or content submitted to the site, depending on the service and feature involved.

The site may contain embedded content or links from third-party websites, including video, audio, social media, images, maps, payment processors, or other external services. Third-party websites and services may collect information under their own privacy policies.

8. Private Messages and Staff Access

Private messages and non-public communications are not intended to be publicly visible. However, they may be accessed, reviewed, disclosed, or preserved when reasonably necessary for moderation, technical support, abuse prevention, legal compliance, safety, dispute resolution, review verification, or enforcement of the Terms and Rules.

You should not use the site to send information that you require to remain strictly confidential, privileged, or legally protected.

9. Sharing of Information

We may share information in the following situations:

  1. with service providers that help operate, host, secure, maintain, analyze, or support the site;
  2. with payment processors when donations or payments are used;
  3. with spam-prevention, security, or anti-abuse services;
  4. with moderators, administrators, technical helpers, or other authorized persons who assist with site operation;
  5. with reviewers, reviewed lawyers, reviewed law firms, representatives, or affected parties where reasonably necessary to evaluate a review dispute or verification issue;
  6. when required by law, court order, legal process, or lawful request;
  7. when reasonably necessary to protect the site, users, moderators, administrators, third parties, or the public;
  8. in connection with a transfer, merger, backup, restoration, restructuring, or change in operation of the site.

We do not sell ordinary forum account information as a business model. Public content, including reviews and posts, may be visible to anyone and may be collected, indexed, quoted, archived, or copied by third parties outside our control.

10. Data Retention

We may keep information for as long as reasonably necessary to operate the site, maintain accounts, preserve public discussions, enforce rules, prevent abuse, handle disputes, verify reviews, comply with legal obligations, maintain backups, resolve technical issues, and protect the site.

Some information may remain after account closure, including public posts, reviews, ratings, quoted content, moderation records, verification records, server logs, backups, security records, and records needed to prevent abuse or duplicate-account misuse.

Backups may retain information for a limited period before being overwritten or deleted in the normal backup cycle.

11. Account Closure and Deletion Requests

You may request account closure through the contact method available on the site.

Account closure does not automatically delete public posts, reviews, ratings, replies, quoted content, moderation records, verification records, logs, backups, or information that the site has a legitimate reason to retain.

Requests to edit, remove, anonymize, or delete content are handled at our discretion and may depend on account status, content type, public interest, moderation history, legal risk, review verification needs, technical limits, and the effect on other users’ discussions.

12. Email and Notifications

The site may send emails related to registration, login, account security, password resets, alerts, watched content, private messages, administrative notices, policy updates, moderation issues, review verification, and other site activity.

You may be able to adjust some email preferences in your account settings. Important administrative, security, legal, review-verification, or account-related messages may still be sent when necessary.

13. Security

We use reasonable technical and administrative measures to protect information. No website, forum, database, server, email system, or internet transmission is completely secure.

You are responsible for keeping your password secure, using accurate account recovery information, and avoiding the posting or submission of sensitive information that you do not want stored, reviewed, or made public.

14. International Use

The site may be accessed from many countries. Information may be stored, processed, backed up, or accessed in countries other than your own, depending on hosting, technical services, security tools, payment processors, and other service providers used by the site.

By using the site, you understand that your information may be processed in locations with privacy laws that differ from those in your country.

15. Children

The site is not intended for users under 13 years old. Users under 13 should not register or use account-based features. If we become aware that an account belongs to a user under 13, we may close the account and remove related information where reasonably practical.

16. Your Choices and Rights

Depending on your location and applicable law, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, portability, or withdrawal of consent for certain personal information.

To make a privacy-related request, use the contact method available on the site. We may need to verify your identity or account ownership before responding.

We may decline, limit, or delay a request where permitted by law, where the request cannot be verified, where it affects the rights of others, where the information is needed for moderation, review verification, legal, security, anti-abuse, archival, or technical reasons, or where the request is excessive or impractical.

17. Accuracy of Information and Technical Issues

The site may contain user-generated content, imported content, older content, incorrect information, missing content, duplicate content, broken links, technical discrepancies, or content affected by database, software, or server issues.

Privacy, moderation, and verification records may also be affected by technical limits, backup cycles, account changes, imports, restorations, or historical data issues.

18. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy at any time. Changes may be posted on this page with a new “Last updated” date. Continued use of the site after changes are posted means you accept the updated Privacy Policy.

If the change is significant, users may be asked to review or accept the updated Privacy Policy again where the site software supports this.

19. Contact

For privacy questions, account requests, review-verification issues, or data-related concerns, use the contact method available on the site.

20. Final Note

This Privacy Policy explains the site’s ordinary privacy practices. It does not create a promise of any specific level of service, availability, security, data retention, review publication, moderation outcome, verification result, or dispute result.
