Iraq citizenship and residency: official resources and member experiences
Use this discussion for questions about Iraqi entry visas, residency paperwork, citizenship records and consular appointments. Please identify which service you need: an entry-visa application, a residence matter and a nationality or civil-record request are not interchangeable.
Start with the relevant official service
Make your question or experience useful
Mention the procedure, the office or portal used, and the month and year of the application. Distinguish an official response from advice you received elsewhere, and link to a current government notice where possible. Experiences with appointments, document certification and communication are welcome; an individual outcome is not a guarantee for the next applicant.
Do not post passport numbers, identity documents, application reference numbers or private correspondence. For professional advice, the Iraq lawyer directory and member reviews provide a separate starting point. A listing is not an endorsement or confirmation that a firm handles your particular matter.
Editorial resource update: 6 October 2026. Official links checked on that date. This discussion is general information, not individual legal advice.

Start with the relevant official service
- Iraqi Ministry of Interior electronic visa portal: visa instructions, the application service and support contact details. Read the current instructions for your circumstances before submitting documents or paying a fee.
- Iraqi Consulate Affairs Support System (ICASS): embassy and consulate appointments, document certification, civil-record services and mission contact information. Check the service's availability; some options are marked as coming soon.
- Iraqi missions abroad: find the office relevant to your location when you need to ask about citizenship documentation or a consular procedure. Ask that office to confirm the applicable document list rather than relying on another applicant's circumstances.
