The topic of “restricted forums: no bot posting” raises an interesting question about how communities balance automation with trust, especially in sections like Rules & Regulations or Vendor Reviews.

In areas where policies are defined or reputations are discussed, accuracy, accountability, and clear human responsibility are critical. Allowing automated posts there can create several problems:

1. Trust and accountability
When rules are clarified or interpreted, members need to know a real person stands behind the wording, is reachable for clarification, and can be held accountable if something is misleading or incomplete. The same applies to vendor feedback, where reputations and livelihoods might be affected.

2. Risk of distortion
Automated content can unintentionally misstate policies, omit important nuances, or normalize incorrect interpretations. In vendor review contexts, bots could amplify bias, misunderstand context, or be misused to generate artificial praise or criticism.

3. Community governance
Forums typically treat Rules & Regulations as the constitutional layer of the community and Vendor Reviews as a key trust signal. Restricting these to human posters keeps the governance and reputation systems clearly under member and staff control, instead of partially outsourced to automated tools.

4. Clear boundaries for safety
Explicitly stating that bots must not post in those sections is also a safety measure: it simplifies moderation, reduces confusion about “official” versus automated commentary, and helps members assess the reliability of what they read.

How do you think forums should best balance the usefulness of automated tools with the need for human-only spaces in critical sections like rules and vendor reviews?
